Root and Causes tree (30 mins)
This is an example of roots and causes tree. Now you are going to make your own.
Step 1:
Open this powerpoint on the computer. If you can't work on a computer, take a page to draw the tree.
Step 2:
Compose a tree similar to the example, using the different pieces in the powerpoint file. You can copy, paste and scale the different elements of the tree.
Step 3:
The roots represent the causes of drug abuse. Put the word 'ignorance', which is a cause of drug abuse, on the roots. Think of other causes of drug abuse and type them on the roots.
Step 4:
The tree trunk, represents the different types of drug abuse. Place the word 'Marijuana' on the tree trunk, because this is one type of drug. Add other types of drug abuse you know.
Step 5:
The leaves symbolize the effects of drug abuse. One of the effects is a low self esteem, place this word into one of the leaves. Now add other effects drug abuse that you can come up with.
Now your tree is finished, it illustrates what causes drug abuse and how it affects society. This is important to know if you want to avoid drug abuse!
