Solve your problems (30 mins)

Writing can help you cope with problems. Use the steps below to write a text about how you feel.

Step 1:
During puberty you are going through a lot of changes, physically and emotionally. Write down the physical change that worries you the most.
Step 2:
How are you feeling about this physical change? Name your feelings.
Step 3:
Are you worried about this physical change because of what you are experiencing yourself or because of what you have heard about it? If it is something you are experiencing, go to step 4. If it is something you have heard about, go to step 8.
Step 4:
Try to describe what you are experiencing? Be aware of your own body.
Step 5:
What can you do to make this problem go away or make it less big? Think of at least 5 different things.
Step 6:
Who can you talk to, that can help you with this problem. Sometimes it helps if talk to a friend or a teacher you can trust. Do you think it will make you feel better if you can share your worries with others?
Step 7:
How can it help you to know that there are other teenagers just like you that have the same worries on their mind? How can it change your feelings and attitude?
Step 8:
Write down all the things that you have heard about this physical change.
Step 9:
Did you hear these things from people who had experienced them themselves or was it hearsay for them as well? Can you be sure that it is true?
Step 10:
How can you find out if the things you heard about are true? If they are true for others, do they have to be true for you?
Step 11:
Write down 5 different things you can expect. Think of 2 ways to handle each thing.
